Regular Season Round 5: Raad - Naft Abadan 61-98

Very expected game in Mashhad where bottom-ranked Raad (0-4) was crushed by leader Naft Abadan (4-0) 98-61 on Thursday. Naft Abadan dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Raad's 32. They outrebounded Raad 45-19 including a 35-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naft Abadan looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Raad's players. The former international Hamed Sohrabnejad (205-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Four Naft Abadan players scored in double figures. N Fathi responded with 19 points and forward Mohammadamin Kamalvand (196-98) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naft Abadan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gorgan. Loser Raad still closes the standings with four games lost.
