Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Dragons (1-12) were outscored by fifth ranked Blue Whales (10-3) in Chengdu 97-65 on Saturday. Blue Whales outrebounded Dragons 58-27 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Dragons' players. Point guard Zhuoya Fang (166-0) notched 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and center Tong Xiao (185-0) supported her with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by guard Yuanjing Cao (178-1) did not help to save the game for Dragons. Forward Wei Yu (187-0) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Blue Whales moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Shanghai. Dragons lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Tianjin. Blue Whales will meet Beijing Great Wall (#7) on the road in the next round. Dragons will play against Wuhan (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
