Regular Season Round 7: Larissa BC - Ionikos 76-97

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Larissa BC (1-4) was smashed at home by eleventh ranked Ionikos Nikaias (2-5) 97-76 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ionikos Nikaias led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Ionikos Nikaias forced 20 Larissa BC turnovers. American players dominated also this game. It was a very good performance for point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. Forward Jeremy Hollowell (203-94, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Ionikos Nikaias players scored in double figures. Point guard Jerry Smith (189-87, college: Louisville) answered with 22 points and 4 assists and James Webb-III (206-93, college: Boise St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Larissa BC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ionikos Nikaias moved-up to ninth place, which they share with PAOK and Kolossos HH. Loser Larissa BC dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Ionikos Nikaias will face higher ranked Promitheas (#7) in Patras in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Larissa BC will play on the road against Peristeri GS (#3) in Athens and hope to win that game.
