Regular Season Round 11: Granada - Almeria 67-63

There was an upset when higher ranked Almeria (6-5) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Granada (3-4) 67-63 on Saturday. Granada made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Nici Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Macarena Durso (162-91) responded with 14 points and Gemma Nunez scored 5 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Granada moved-up to ninth place in Group B. Loser Almeria keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Granada will face higher ranked Alcobendas (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almeria will play against Sevilla and hope to win that game.
