There was a small surprise in Casalpusterlengo where eleventh ranked Piacenza (2-3) defeated 8th ranked Verona (1-2) 78-71 on Saturday. American forward Markis McDuffie (203-97, college: Wichita St.) fired 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Luca Cesana (196-97) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Four Piacenza players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Guido Rosselli (198-83) produced 8 points and 8 rebounds and American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (203-84, college: Washington) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Piacenza moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Verona dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. Piacenza will face Cd'Orlando (#9) in Capo d'Orlando in the next round. Verona will play at home against the league's second-placed Udine having rather not much hope for a victory.
