Regular Season Round 11: Sassari - Broni 61-81

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Sassari (2-7) was crushed at home by eleventh ranked Broni (3-7) 81-61. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sassari's 28. Broni players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Sassari's players. The former international power forward Sara Madera (187-0) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Marida Orazzo (174-94, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Broni players scored in double figures. American guard Kennedy Burke (185-97, college: UCLA, agency: Wasserman) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and Slovakian forward Michaela Fekete (190-94, college: USF) added 12 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Sassari. Broni moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Campobasso. Sassari lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Broni's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sesto SG (#7) in Sesto San Giovanni and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sassari will play on the road against Vigarano (#14) and hope to win that game.
