Fifteenth-ranked Socinsa Bembibre (2-12) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (10-5) in Madrid on Saturday. ASEFA Estudiantes managed to secure only two-point victory 61-59. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American Leslie Knight (184-86, college: Minnesota) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points. Nigerian-American forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA) helped adding 8 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Lashann Higgs (175-95, college: Texas) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Venezuelan point guard Roselis Silva (166-91, college: Arkansas Tech) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Gernika. Loser Socinsa Bembibre keeps the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Zamarat. ASEFA Estudiantes will meet at home higher ranked Argon Uni Girona (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Socinsa Bembibre will play against IDK Eustotren (#8) in San Sebastian and hope to secure a win.
