There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Aviles (2-7) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (2-6) 69-55 on Saturday. Arxil Pontevedra forced 19 Aviles turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Heather Forster (188-96, college: Albany) who led her team to a victory scoring 9 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Maria Lago (177-92) helped adding 9 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Devon Brookshire (188-94, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: DC Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Sara Fraile (-1) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Arxil Pontevedra moved-up to eleventh place in Group A. Loser Aviles dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Arxil Pontevedra will face league's second-placed Ardoi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aviles will play against Cortegada (#9) and hope to win that game.
