Very expected game when 9th ranked Dragonflies (4-17) were smashed by third ranked Diamond Dolphins (14-7) in Hiroshima 94-74 on Sunday. Diamond Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a good game for American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-95) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Five Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Diamond Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 14-7 record having just two points less than leader Chiba J., which they share with Toyama G. Dragonflies lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the ninth position with 17 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face Shiga L-Stars (#7) at home in the next round. Dragonflies will play against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and hope to win that game.
