Regular Season Round 21: Alvark T. - Hitachi SRT 104-80

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Toyota Alvark (#7) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#4). Toyota Alvark (12-9) crushed visiting Hitachi Sunrockers (13-8) by 24 points 104-80. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 42-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Toyota Alvark shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Taiki Osakabe (187-98) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) with 28 points and the other American import center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark and four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark maintains seventh place with 12-9 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Akita NH. Toyota Alvark will play against league's second-placed Tochigi B. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Dragonflies and hope to get back on the winning track.
