There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Latina (2-3) won against at home 7th ranked Chieti (1-3) 75-66 on Sunday. They outrebounded Chieti 38-23 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jaren Lewis (198-96, college: ACU) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import center Brandon Gilbeck (213-96, college: W.Illinois) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Latina players scored in double figures. Guard Marco Santiangeli (192-91, agency: Players Group) produced 19 points (made all of his seven free throws) and Lithuanian forward Paulius Sorokas (201-92, agency: Players Group) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Latina moved-up to seventh place in A2. Newly promoted Chieti dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Latina will have a break next round. Chieti will play at home against Rieti (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
