The game between closely ranked teams ended with 14th ranked Cerrado's (1-8) road loss to thirteenth ranked Pinheiros (3-6) 77-80 on Sunday. Point guard Gabriel Campos (179-1) stepped up and scored 27 points and 5 assists for the winners and the former international guard Humberto Silva (196-95) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. American JC Fuller (194-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Douglas Nunes (209-87) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Pinheiros and five Cerrado players scored in double figures. Cerrado's coach Bruno Lopes rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pinheiros. They moved-up to eleventh place. Cerrado lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Pinheiros will face higher ranked Fortaleza (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cerrado will play against the league's second-placed Sao Paulo (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
