No shocking result in a game in Logrono where seventh ranked Carbajosa (5-6) defeated 9th ranked Clavijo (5-6) 82-68 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American forward Alex Illikainen (206-96, college: UMD, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Arturo Cruz (184-93) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Carbajosa's coach Jesus Gutierrez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American-French guard Alfredo Ott (190-83, college: Dillard) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and Senegalese center Wally Niang (206-96) added 4 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Despite that victory Carbajosa went down to eighth position (Silver) due to points difference. Carbajosa will face higher ranked Zamorano (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Clavijo will play against Marbella (#6) and hope to win that game.
