Regular Season Round 11: Sevilla - Leganes 62-80

No shocking result in a game when leader Leganes (8-0) won against on the road bottom-ranked Sevilla (0-9) 80-62 on Sunday. They outrebounded Sevilla 36-23 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Leganes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Elo Edeferioka (188-93, college: Georgia Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Danish forward Maria Jespersen (183-94, college: S.Florida) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Leganes players scored in double figures. American center Danielle Hammond (193, college: VCU) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Virginia Lopez (-86) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Leganes. They maintain third place in Group B with 8-0 record having 3 victories less than leader Ferrol. Sevilla lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Leganes will face league's second-placed UCAM Jairis in Alcantarilla in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sevilla will play on the road against Almeria (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
