Very expected game in Zaragoza where 12th ranked Girona (2-9) was defeated by seventh ranked Casablanca (5-5) 70-59 on Sunday. Casablanca forced 22 Girona turnovers. Girona was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) who led her team to a victory scoring 9 points and 15 rebounds. Elena Cobos (-89) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Vanessa Gonzalez (-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and French guard Faustine Parra (165-0) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Casablanca. They moved-up to sixth place in Group C. Loser Girona keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. Casablanca will face Joventut (#7) in Badalona in the next round. Girona will play against Sant Josep (#9) and hope to win that game.
