Regular Season Round 7: Panathinaikos - Peristeri GS 76-57

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#2) and Peristeri GS (#3). Panathinaikos (5-0) crushed visiting Peristeri GS (4-3) by 19 points 76-57. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-57. Worth to mention a great performance of Ghanian-American forward Ben Bentil (204-95, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. International forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Tre McLean (196-93, college: Chattanooga) answered with 8 points and 7 rebounds and international center Ioannis Bourousis (214-83) added 5 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Peristeri GS. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 5-0 record behind leader AEK. Peristeri GS at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Iraklis. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face Charilaos (#6) in Mesolongi in the next round. Peristeri GS will play at home against Larissa BC and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
