Regular Season Round 5: Khouzestan - Parsa 50-89

Rather predictable result in Ahvaz where fourth ranked Parsa (2-2) smashed bottom-ranked Khouzestan (0-4) 89-50 on Monday. They outrebounded Khouzestan 50-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Parsa looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Khouzestan's players. Serbian guard Aleksandar Ponjavic (200-91) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and M Sadeghi chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Parsa players scored in double figures. American point guard Reger Dowell (185-91, college: UT Arlington) responded with 17 points and the former international center Ali Doraghi (210-84) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Parsa maintains fourth place with 2-2 record, which they share with Exxon SC. Newly promoted Khouzestan still closes the standings with four games lost.
