Regular Season Round 8: H.Beer Sheva - H.Jerusalem 81-83

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Winner League took place in Beer Sheva. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked H.Beer Sheva (4-3) to top-ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (7-0) 83-81 on Tuesday evening. Hapoel Jerusalem forced 24 H.Beer Sheva turnovers. Strangely H.Beer Sheva outrebounded Hapoel Jerusalem 42-20 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Tashawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Guard JCovan Brown (188-90, college: Texas) chipped in 20 points. Spencer Weisz (193-95, college: Princeton) produced 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hapoel Jerusalem have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. H.Beer Sheva at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with M.Rishon. Hapoel Jerusalem are looking forward to face H.Haifa (#5) on the road in the next round. H.Beer Sheva will play against Hapoel Eilat and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
