Regular Season Round 15: Gomel - Grodno GrSU 77-95

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Grodno GrSU (6-7) defeated on the road 10th ranked Gomel (2-11) 95-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Grodno GrSU. Gomel was better in fourth quarter 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grodno GrSU dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gomel's 38. Grodno GrSU had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for forward Tsimur Drukau (198-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Center Pavel Bliznec (211-94) helped adding 17 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Grodno GrSU's coach Rustan Nosenko used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was guard Timofey Verevkin (187-93) with 26 points and swingman Yegor Dudov (192-98) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Grodno GrSU maintains sixth place with 6-7 record. Loser Gomel keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Grodno GrSU will face bottom-ranked SDUSHOR (#11) in Minsk in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gomel will play on the road against Borisfen in Mogilev and hope to win that game.
