Regular Season Round 12: Alcobendas - Granada 56-55

Very expected game when 11th ranked Granada (4-5) was edged on the road by fifth ranked Alcobendas (7-4) 56-55 on Friday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was Celia Menendez (186-90) who scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Center Daira Varas (193-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Nici Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) who recorded 16 points and Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (194-92, college: Shaw) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Alcobendas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Viladecans. Loser Granada dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Alcobendas will face Almeria (#5) at home in the next round. Granada will play against Pozuelo and hope to win that game.
