Regular Season Round 9: Melilla - Ourense 81-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Melilla and 6th ranked Ourense had identical 2-5 record. This time Melilla used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Ourense 81-70 on Friday night. Melilla dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ourense's 28. They outrebounded Ourense 38-19 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Melilla looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for forward Federico Ucles (204-93, agency: Promo Sport ID) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. DR Congolese-Canadian guard Mathieu Kamba (196-95, college: Cent Arkansas, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Melilla players scored in double figures. Swingman David Navarro (189-83) answered with 14 points and American-Dominican guard Adonys Henriquez (201-94, college: St.Louis) added 16 points in the effort for Ourense. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Melilla (3-5) moved-up to fourth place in Gold. Loser Ourense dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Melilla will face Palencia (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ourense will play against Valladolid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
