An interesting game for Barsy Atyrau (11-3) which played road game in Alma-Ata against 3rd placed Almat.Legion (6-6). Second ranked Barsy Atyrau managed to get a 4-point victory 85-81. Barsy Atyrau made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Almat.Legion turnovers. Strangely Almat.Legion outrebounded Barsy Atyrau 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Almat.Legion helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Ryan Cook (191-90, college: UMBC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 20-for-20 from the free throw line !!!). Center Vladimir Ivanov (205-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Cook is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international forward Roman Marchuk (198-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Almat.Legion. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barsy Atyrau have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Almat.Legion lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the third place with six games lost. Barsy Atyrau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Almat.Legion will play again at home against the league's leader Barsy Atyrau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
