Regular Season Round 12: Almeda - Mataro 59-48

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Almeda (2-8) beat at home 11th ranked Mataro (2-7) 59-48 on Saturday. Almeda forced 20 Mataro turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Claudia Baraut (182-94) who scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Claudia Soriano (170-3) chipped in 12 points and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Ariadna Magrina (164-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Almeda moved-up to twelfth place. Mataro at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Almeda will face higher ranked Viladecans (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
