Regular Season Round 12: Joventut - Casablanca 70-53

There was a small surprise in Badalona where seventh ranked Joventut (5-4) won against 5th ranked Casablanca (6-6) 70-53 on Saturday. Joventut forced 23 Casablanca turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Mali center Minata Keita (190-89) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Paula Curto (175-97) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Ana Tainta (173-0, college: Portland St.) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Joventut have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Joventut maintains seventh position with 5-4 record, which they share with Sant Adria. Loser Casablanca dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Joventut will face Sant Josep (#9) in the next round.
