Regular Season Round 10: Santurtzi - Mondragon 79-61

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Santurtzi as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Martorell) loss. Santurtzi defeated much higher ranked Mondragon at home 79-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mondragon. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Santurtzi forced 20 Mondragon turnovers. Mondragon was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Argentinian point guard Juan-Martin Orellano (199-89) scored 27 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Diego Rodriguez (200-2) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Santurtzi players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Daniel Lorenzo (181-93) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santurtzi have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Quintanar and Burgos Nissan. Mondragon at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with 8 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
