There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Varese (2-2) defeated on the road 6th ranked Cremona (2-2) 71-54 on Saturday. Varese had a 39-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Andrea Calzavara (186-1) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Nikola Ivanaj (197-0) who added 20 points during the contest. At the losing side Marco Bona (189-89) responded with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and power forward Lorenzo Varaschin (198-98) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Cremona's coach Simone Lottici tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Varese moved-up to sixth place in B, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cremona. Varese will face Fiorenzuola (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
