Regular Season Round 23: Kawasaki BT - Kyoto H. 83-84

A very close game took place in Kanagawa between Kyoto H. and Toshiba Thunders. Eighth ranked Kyoto H. (7-16) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Toshiba Thunders (15-8). Kyoto H. managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It was a great evening for American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-95, college: WKU) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. International power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) scored 11 points and 8 assists. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Kyoto H. maintains eighth place with 7-16 record, which they share with Niigata A. and Yokohama BC. Toshiba Thunders lost their third game in a row. Defending champion keep the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Hitachi SRT. Kyoto H. will meet at home higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toshiba Thunders will play against the league's second-placed Ryukyu GK and will have a slim chance for a victory.
