Everything went according to plan when second ranked Cartagena (7-2) outplayed at home bottom-ranked Ontinent (0-5) 79-52 on Sunday. Cartagena dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Ontinent's 26. They outrebounded Ontinent 50-32 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Latvian guard Ojars Berzins (191-1) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American guard Michael Crane (190-91, college: E.Oregon) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Matias Boho (195-96) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Alberto Aleman (178-98) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Ontinent. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cartagena have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Corazon. Newly promoted Ontinent still closes the standings with five games lost. Cartagena will face league's second-placed Benidorm on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ontinent will play against Gandia (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
