Regular Season Round 24: Saga B. - Nishinomiya S. 67-74

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Saga B. (16-8) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Nishinomiya S. (12-11) 74-67. 26 personal fouls committed by Saga B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian Marcos Mata (200-86) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to fourth place. Saga B. at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They share it with Ibaraki R.. Nishinomiya S. are looking forward to face Orange Vikings (#7) in Matsuyama in the next round. Saga B. will play on the road against Sendai 89ers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
