There was no surprise when 14th ranked Brasilia (2-10) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Pato Basquete (4-7) 104-98 on Sunday. Pato Basquete dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Brasilia's 34. Pato Basquete forced 19 Brasilia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Brasilia was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-0) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Isaac Thornton (193-91, college: Fairmont St.) chipped in 19 points. Pato Basquete's coach Dede Barbosa used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Jefferson Campos (188-91) who recorded 25 points and 5 assists and American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Pato Basquete and five Brasilia players scored in double figures. Pato Basquete moved-up to tenth place. Loser Brasilia keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Pato Basquete will face bottom-ranked Cerrado (#16) in Brasilia in the next round where they are favorite. Brasilia will play on the road against Campo Mourao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
