Regular Season Round 24: Kagawa FA - Ehime OV 81-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Takamatsu where 6th ranked Kagawa FA (10-14) was defeated by seventh ranked Orange Vikings (8-14) 87-81 on Sunday. Orange Vikings outrebounded Kagawa FA 47-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Kagawa FA was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Perry Ellis (203-93, college: Kansas) who added 29 points during the contest. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Orange Vikings maintains seventh position with 8-14 record. Loser Kagawa FA keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Orange Vikings will face higher ranked Nishinomiya S. (#4) in Hyogo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
