Regular Season Round 13: Sassari - Schio 51-71

Very expected game when 11th ranked Sassari (2-9) was smashed at home by fourth ranked Schio (10-2) 71-51. Schio dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Sassari's 24. They outrebounded Sassari 42-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Schio players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Sassari's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) stepped up and scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Belgian Kim Mestdagh (179-90, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 12 points. Schio's coach Pierre Vincent allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Kennedy Burke (185-97, college: UCLA, agency: Wasserman) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Sierra Calhoun (183-96, college: Rutgers, agency: Wasserman) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Sassari lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Schio will play against Campobasso (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sassari will play against Battipaglia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
