Regular Season Round 7: Cearense - Sao Paulo 92-85

The game between third ranked Sao Paulo (10-3) and seventh ranked Fortaleza (7-5) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Sao Paulo was defeated by Fortaleza in a tough game in Fortaleza 85-92. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Desmond Holloway (194-90, college: Coastal) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import point guard Dontrell Brite (175-94, college: Mount Olive) contributed with 27 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Fortaleza players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) added 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Sao Paulo. Fortaleza maintains seventh place with 7-5 record. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Fortaleza will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Paulistano.
