Regular Season Round 24: Ryukyu GK - Kawasaki BT 72-80

An interesting game for Toshiba Thunders (16-8) which played road game in Okinawa against second-best Ryukyu GK (17-7). Third ranked Toshiba Thunders managed to get a 8-point victory 80-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. Toshiba Thunders dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 24. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) who recorded 26 points and American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 11 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains third position with 16-8 record behind leader Chiba J., which they share with Nagoya DD and Hitachi SRT. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Ryukyu GK will play again at home against Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
