A very close game took place in Tokyo between Toyota Alvark and Diamond Dolphins. Seventh ranked Toyota Alvark (13-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Diamond Dolphins (16-8). Toyota Alvark managed to escape with a 3-point win 102-99 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Diamond Dolphins. Toyota Alvark looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Daiki Tanaka (191-91) supported him with 20 points and 7 assists. Toyota Alvark's coach Luka Pavicevic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) did not help to save the game for Diamond Dolphins. His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Toyota Alvark and four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark maintains seventh position with 13-11 record. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with Kawasaki BT and Hitachi SRT. Toyota Alvark will again meet at home higher ranked Diamond Dolphins (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Diamond Dolphins will have a break next round.
