Regular Season Round 8: M.Ashdod - H.Afula 76-70

Very expected game when 7th ranked H.Afula (4-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked Maccabi Ashdod (5-2) 76-70 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was guard Dolev Drapic (191-92) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Jamaican-American swingman Durand Scott (195-90, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American forward Jimmy Hall (203-94, college: Kent St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Lenzelle Smith Jr (193-91, college: Ohio St.) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Maccabi Ashdod maintains third position with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader E.Ashkelon, which they share with Hapoel H/M. H.Afula lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Elitzur Yavne (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. H.Afula will play against H.Acre (#14) and hope to secure a win.
