Regular Season Round 9: Rieti - Latina 82-77

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Rieti (3-5) won against at home higher ranked Latina (2-4) 82-77 on Sunday. Rieti forced 20 Latina turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American forward Steve Taylor-Jr (206-93, college: Toledo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Giacomo Sanguinetti (181-90) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American center Brandon Gilbeck (213-96, college: W.Illinois) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks and the other American import forward Jaren Lewis (198-96, college: ACU) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Latina. Five Rieti and four Latina players scored in double figures. Rieti moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Trapani. Loser Latina dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Rieti will face Cento (#8) at home in the next round. Latina will play against SAzzurra RO and hope to win that game.
