Regular Season Round 9: Larissa BC - Charilaos 84-58
Date: December 27, 2020
Bottom-ranked Larissa BC managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses. This time they outleveled seventh-ranked Charilaos 84-58. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 26-point difference suggests that Larissa BC is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Larissa BC. Charilaos was better in third quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Larissa BC forced 19 Charilaos turnovers and outrebounded them 33-21 including 21 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. James Webb III (206-93, college: Boise St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Ken Brown (180-89, college: Philander Smith) accounted for 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Larissa BC players scored in double figures. Power forward Chad Brown (207-96, college: UCF) came up with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's) added 6 points and 9 assists respectively for Charilaos in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Larissa BC maintains twelfth place with 2-6 record. Charilaos lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Larissa BC's next round opponent will be higher ranked Iraklis (#5) in Thessaloniki and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
