Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Haifa: H.Haifa (#7) and Maccabi Haifa (#13). Maccabi Haifa was defeated at home 91-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. H.Haifa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Haifa's 38 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. American swingman Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Lennard Freeman (203-95, college: NC State) chipped in 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side international Roman Sorkin (209-96, college: Oregon) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Venezuelan-American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four H.Haifa and five Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. H.Haifa (5-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with H.Holon. Maccabi Haifa lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. H.Haifa will meet at home H.Beer Sheva (#8) in the next round. Maccabi Haifa will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#9) in Nes Ziyona and hope to win that game.
