Regular Season Round 9: Al-Khtot - Nift Al-Shamal 72-70

A very close game took place in Baghdad between Al-Khtot and Nift Al-Shamal. Fifth ranked Al-Khtot (4-2) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Nift Al-Shamal (1-5). Al-Khtot managed to escape with a 2-point win 72-70 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Nawras Altaleb who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 22 rebounds. Hamzah Abs chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Al-Khtot players scored in double figures. Al-Khtot's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Lebanese guard Ali Mansour (185-98) who recorded 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Ali Sewari added 5 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Al-Khtot maintains fifth place with 4-2 record. Newly promoted Nift Al-Shamal dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
