Regular Season Round 18: Zaragoza - Valencia 62-91

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Zaragoza (6-10) was crushed at home by second ranked Valencia (17-1) 91-62 on Sunday. Valencia shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Queralt Casas (177-92) who scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Belgian center Celeste Trahan-Davis (186-85, college: ECSU, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Montenegrin center Markeisha Gatling (196-92, college: NC State) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and international center Laura Nicholls (189-89) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-1 record behind leader Avenida. Newly promoted Zaragoza keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. Valencia will face Clarinos (#6) in San Cristobal in the next round. Zaragoza will play on the road against Socinsa Bembibre (#15) and hope to win that game.
