Regular Season Round 13: Arka Gdynia - GTK Gdynia 101-56

EBLK top team - Arka Gdynia (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked GTK Gdynia (0-12) 101-56. They outrebounded GTK Gdynia 45-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Arka Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by GTK Gdynia's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Arka Gdynia made 11 blocks. Irish-Australian swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) stepped up and scored 21 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) for the winners and Lithuanian power forward Laura Miskiniene-Svaryte (190-92) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Arka Gdynia players scored in double figures. Arka Gdynia's coach Gundars Vetra felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Julia Niemojewska (170-98) responded with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Marta Marcinkowska (181-98) scored 15 points. Arka Gdynia have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Newly promoted GTK Gdynia still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Arka Gdynia are looking forward to face Bydgoszcz (#4) on the road in the next round. GTK Gdynia will play against Poznan (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
