Regular Season Round 12: A3 Basket - Visby 84-80

Very expected game in Umea where 10th ranked Visby Ladies (2-11) were defeated by second ranked A3 Basket (9-2) 84-80 on Monday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Visby Ladies trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 26-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-84 at the end of the game. A3 Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of German guard Emma Stach (175-96, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) who added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists during the contest. A3 Basket's coach Jan Enjebo used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward ALexus Harrison (188-95, college: SFU) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and her fellow American import Jessica Kelliher (183-97, college: Lewis) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Four Visby Ladies players scored in double figures. A3 Basket have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record having just two point less than leader Alvik Basket. Visby Ladies lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. A3 Basket are looking forward to face Uppsala (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Visby Ladies will play against Helsingborg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
