There was no surprise when bottom-ranked SAzzurra RO (0-7) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Latina (3-4) 70-66 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Latina made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Latina outrebounded SAzzurra RO 43-30 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jaren Lewis (198-96, college: ACU) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Davide Raucci (198-90, agency: Players Group) chipped in 13 points during the contest. At the losing side Puerto Rican-American guard Stephen Thompson-Jr (194-97, college: Oregon St.) responded with 29 points and 7 rebounds and American DJ Laster (199-96, college: Gardner-Webb) scored 11 points. SAzzurra RO's coach Germano D'Arcangeli let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Latina moved-up to seventh place in A2. Newly promoted SAzzurra RO still closes the standings with seven games lost. Latina will face higher ranked Ferrara (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SAzzurra RO will play against Rieti (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
