Regular Season Round 10: Ionikos - Aris 68-64

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Ionikos Nikaias (4-6) won against at home 8th ranked Aris (3-6) 68-64. Aris was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. American forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (203-89, college: S.Florida) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American Jamal Shuler (191-86, college: VCU) responded with 18 points and Ioannis Kouzeloglou (204-95) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Ionikos Nikaias moved-up to seventh place, which they share with PAOK. Aris lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Ionikos Nikaias will play against Kolossos HH (#11) in Rodou in the next round. Aris will play at home against Peristeri GS and hopes to get back on the winning track.
