Rather expected game when 9th ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (2-5) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Ashdod (4-3) 89-80. The game was dominated by American players. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Alexis Peterson (173-95, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) accounted for 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Ashdod players scored in double figures. Ashdod's coach Gilad Katz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Chelsea Nelson (188-96, college: NC State) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and forward Sidney Cook (188-94, college: Virginia Tech) added 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion in the defeat. Ashdod moved-up to second place, which they share with Petah Tikva. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Raanana. Ashdod will play against Ramat Hasharon (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Raanana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
