The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Leganes as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group B. Leganes smashed 10th ranked Melilla at home 99-64. Leganes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Melilla's 34. They outrebounded Melilla 44-19 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leganes looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Melilla's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian forward Elo Edeferioka (188-93, college: Georgia Tech) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). British power forward Shequila Joseph (190-95, college: Ole Miss) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Leganes players scored in double figures. Leganes' coach Antonio Pernas felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Concepcion Sanchez answered with 25 points and Brazilian guard Alana Goncalo (166-94) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Melilla. Leganes (12-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Melilla at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Melilla will play next round against strong UCAM Jairis trying to get back on the winning streak. Leganes will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Castello in Castellon.
