Regular Season Round 5: Faenza - Alessandria 93-59

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Alessandria (0-5) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Faenza (4-1) 93-59 on Wednesday. Faenza dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Alessandria's 26. Faenza forced 20 Alessandria turnovers and outrebounded them 33-19 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Riccardo Ballabio (180-98) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Filippo Testa (192-97, agency: SLN) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Faenza's coach Alberto Serra felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Brazilian swingman Angelo Guaccio (193-98) produced 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Alessandro Ferri (193-93) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Faenza moved-up to second place in B, which they share with Bernareggio and Piacenza. Loser Alessandria still closes the standings with five games lost. Faenza will face Rimini (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Alessandria will play against Imola (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
