Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Aviles (4-10) was outscored at home by third ranked Plasencia (11-3) 78-59 on Wednesday. Plasencia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Aviles' 24. They outrebounded Aviles 45-17 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American forward Princess Aghayere (183, college: Pennsylvania) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Her fellow American import forward Stacia Robertson (188-92, college: High Point) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Plasencia players scored in double figures. Portuguese point guard Marcia Carvalho (170-92) answered with 17 points and Portuguese swingman Marcy Goncalves (177-90) added 16 points in the effort for Aviles. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Plasencia. Newly promoted Plasencia maintains third place in Group A with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Ferrol. Loser Aviles keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Plasencia will face league's second-placed Ardoi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aviles will play against Adareva (#7) in Laguna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
