Regular Season Round 8: ASVEL - Strasbourg 79-72

The biggest surprise took place in Villeurbanne where host ASVEL (5-1) beat league's leader Strasbourg (6-1) 79-72 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Strasbourg. They outrebounded Strasbourg 40-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Elwin Ndjock (200-1) who scored 22 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Power forward Kevin Kokila (204-1) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. ASVEL's coach Anthony Brossard used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Lucas Beaufort (192-2) produced 19 points and point guard Joris Wagner (187-1) added 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. ASVEL maintains third position with 5-1 record behind leader Cholet. Strasbourg at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Cholet who have the same record. Strasbourg will play next round against strong Roanne trying to make it back to the top of the standings. ASVEL will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Chalon on the road.
